Whether your are married, engaged, falling in love or falling out…just go ahead and enjoy it…the kisses…the hugs… the cards…the red and pink…the romance… the flowers…I give you permission… enjoy it…

Just remember….when you are lucky enough to receive all these things…then go ahead and give some back because in the end on Valentine’s Day…and everyday…everyone deserves a little love.

Happy Valentine’s.

Meet the worlds newest princess…Little Laila.  I seriously couldn’t get enough of this sweet little face.  And oh those eyes!  I loved how peaceful she was when she fell asleep and the flaky newborn skin…reminds me of that short time with my own daughter.  You are such a tiny princess Laila…So so thankful that I had the chance to meet you and your family.

We are as confused as you are.

Don’t forget Valentine’s minis are this weekend. Today is the last day to sign-up for Saturday and there are a few spots remaining.

Hope everyone finds a way to enjoy this beautiful weather!

It’s January 31st…where has time gone?  To say that I had everything figured out at the beginning of the year would be a lie. When I left my job to be full-time photographer, wife and mom, it was a truly a leap of faith. I said I trusted where God would lead me, but really…I was just praying that He would catch me and if I am really being honest, I was not entirely sure He would. Well here is what happened…

In the past 31 days, I worked hard…without working in the middle of the night. I slept a lot…including nap times.  I read a lot of books…more children’s than anything.  Ate…a lot and drank even more wine.  I started projects I used to cram into a few free hours and I am reveling in the fact that they are still unfinished-It means I enjoyed the moment instead of stuffing more things to do into them. I photographed a wedding…and admittedly fell in love with it in a new way.  I booked four new weddings for 2012 in my first three days of work.  I photographed newborns… and scheduled even more newborn sessions than I have had in the past 6 months. I took more photos of my own family (somewhere in the number of 2000) and managed to edit them before the month was over.  I ran outside…in the sunshine.  I drank coffee while having breakfast with my daughter everyday.  I met new people I am already happy to call my friends and was able to meet up with old friends without worrying about missing a few hours of being home.

As a family, we started hosting monthly dinner club for both friends and family.  We instituted family days where we climbed mountains…literally.  We ate dinner… all of us… at 5PM…almost every day.  We watched TV together and went to bed before 12AM.  We laughed… a lot.

Adalynn learned to drink from a sippy cup.  She also now can feed herself…no more baby food for this one.  From newly crawling, she is now able to make anything, including her little piano, into a walker to practice her steps.  She started a regular nap schedule and can clap and wave hello.  I didn’t miss any of it.  In all, I consider that my greatest accomplishment of the month on top of the fact that I finally captured a photo that shows light in my sweet little daughter’s eyes.

Needless to say, here I am… alive and well… jumping for joy.  This month has exceeded my expectations and of course God gets the credit.  He filled this month with amazing people, amazing opportunities and amazing… amazing… moments.  He has shown me day after day exactly what happens when you follow your heart and you trust where He is leading you. In this case, not only did God catch me, but He led me into a life of even more blessings than I can count.

What a month.

I think every woman should have an amazing photo of themselves. With a little boudoir, a little fashion and lots of class…This has to be one of my favorite shoots of all time.

Isn’t it like a fairy tale?

Meet Katie Durski of KD Productions… she is fun sweet and oh-so talented.  I am lucky to call her my friend and I wish I had discovered her amazing talent before I planned my own wedding.  Ironically, Katie and I went to high school together… we even played soccer together.  I recently saw her featured on the super fun wedding blog… Capitol Romance… and I went…”Hey! I know her!!” I couldn’t believe we had missed each other in what is often a small community of videographers and photographers, but I knew immediately we needed to connect.

Katie is young, modern, classy and what I think is a breath of fresh air to the industry of wedding videography.  I will be working with her on many projects through out the year and I am now happy to offer a video add on to all my sessions. SweetBee clients will now have the option to walk away with both timeless photos, as well as a little video that documents their lives.

This past Monday, Katie and I headed to downtown Bethesda for a little photo-shoot.  Working with her is just as fun as these pictures!  Can’t wait for the exciting year ahead!

No better way than to start the year with the newborn session.  Such a great reminder of new beginnings.
